Awards Program

AWARD CRITERIA
Milton Phillips, Jr. Award - A professional continuing educator who sincerely believed in and effectively promoted the concept of “lifelong learning.” The nominee:

 

  • Must be a current member of TACHE or have been a member for a minimum of five years.
  • Cannot be a current TACHE officer.
  • Has been a professional continuing educator for a minimum of five years.
  • Has a demonstrated record of outstanding service and leadership in continuing education and/or higher education in Tennessee.
  • Has promoted the concept of lifelong learning in Tennessee.
  • Has a documented history of supporting innovation and creativity in the field of continuing/higher education in Tennessee.
Barbara Beeler Award – In recognition of outstanding service to the membership in TACHE The nominee’s performance for TACHE should fulfill the criteria listed:

 

  • Has made extraordinary contributions to TACHE over an extended period of time, five years minimum.
  • Has served in a minimum of two positions on the TACHE Executive Committee.
  • Has improved the professional life of continuing/higher education practitioners in TACHE.
  • Has a documented record of mentoring the new members of TACHE.
  • Has played an active role in numerous TACHE annual conferences.
Merit Award The nominee:

 

  • Must be a member of TACHE.
  • Must have served in two leadership roles in TACHE.
  • Has provided outstanding leadership in TACHE.
  • Has promoted and advocated the goals of TACHE.
  • Has a record of extraordinary contributions to TACHE.
Certificate of Appreciation – Certificates of Appreciation, based on a member’s longtime extraordinary service for TACHE, can be awarded at the discretion of the President and the Board of Directors. Longtime service is defined as a minimum of five years. The Certificate of Appreciation is awarded at the discretion of the President and the Board of Directors for longtime extraordinary service for TACHE.
Non-Credit Program Award – The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual or institution demonstrating outstanding and/or innovative non-credit programming. Any individual or institutional member of TACHE may submit nominations for the award. The award cannot be received by the same individual/institution two years in a row. The program must:

 

  • Be less than five years old
  • Reflect originality in approach, content, and delivery
  • Be marketed towards new audiences or innovative format
  • Be easily replicated at other institutions
Credit Program Award - The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual or institution demonstrating outstanding and/or innovative credit programming. Any individual or institutional member of TACHE may submit nominations for the award. The award cannot be received by the same individual/institution two years in a row. The program must:

 

  • Be less than five years old
  • Reflect originality in approach, content, and delivery
  • Be marketed towards new audiences or innovative format
  • Be easily replicated at other institutions
  • Must award college-level credit that can lead toward an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree
Technical Program Award – The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual or technical postsecondary institution that demonstrates outstanding and/or innovative technical programming. Any individual or institutional member of TACHE may submit nominations for the award. The award cannot be received by the same individual or institution two years in a row. The program must:

 

  • Be less than five years old
  • Reflect originality in approach, content, and delivery
  • Marketed towards new audiences or innovative format
  • Be easily replicated at other institutions
  • Be a diploma program that can be or has the potential to be transferred to other state institutions

 

The Non-Credit Program Awardthe Credit Program Award, and the Technical Program Award may be given to an individual or institution that has demonstrated outstanding or innovative programming.  It is perfectly acceptable to nominate one of your own outstanding programs for consideration; however, the award cannot be received by the same individual/institution for two consecutive years. Also, please note that one of the criteria is that the program must be easily replicated at other institutions.

 

Nominations should be sent to the Chair of the TACHE Awards Committee.

The deadline for award applications will be announced annually
by the Chair of the Awards Committee.

Nominations should include:

  • The name of the award
  • The name of the nominee (individual or institution)
  • The reason(s) for the nomination
  • The name and contact information of the person making the nomination.
